Hat-Trick for Dunlop Direzza as it blitzes Motor Magazine Tyre Test Semi-Slick Category for third consecutive year

10 December 2010

The Dunlop Direzza 03G has taken out the title of Australia's best performing semi-slick tyre, blowing away the opposition in the category in the 2010 MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test with a dominant performance for the third consecutive year.

The Dunlop tyre topped four out of the five testing disciplines, and was only 2% behind the leader in the other category, to comfortably back up its wins from the last two years.

"This is a huge result to win three years in a row in what is one of the leading independent tyre tests in Australia," said Ken Wieden, Dunlop's Motorsport & Motorcycle Manager.

"While it is not a surprise for us, we could not be prouder and it just shows the quality and precision of this tyre, and why Dunlop tyres are the number one choice in many Australian and world motorsport categories, including the V8 Supercar Championship Series.

"This test result also clearly highlights that the Dunlop tyre should be the first choice for all track day pursuits.

"The Direzza 03G is the latest evolution in semi-slick tarmac rally tyres. Its offers a symmetrical, directional tread pattern, exceptional grip and has excellent drainage capability."

The 2010 MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test was conducted at the Sutton Road test facility in the ACT using a Subaru WRX STi as the test vehicle, with professional race driver, stunt driver and driving instructor Warren Luff behind the wheel to ensure consistency.

Each discipline – slalom, braking in both wet and dry conditions, road loop and skidpan – was completed five times with each product. The best and worst scores were then removed and the middle three averaged to establish the final scores.

The test conditions implemented by MOTOR Magazine provided one the most comprehensive, unbiased and independent rankings of Australia's leading road tyres.

So strong and dominant is the Dunlop 03G's performance in the semi-slick category, this is third year in row it was taken the prestigious MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test crown with wins in 2008, 2009 and now 2010.
